A Bit About Beverly J. Van Alstine

Hi, I’m Bev. I’m a licensed full time REALTOR® with Messina & Associates Real Estate, proudly helping home buyers and sellers throughout Duluth, Minnesota, and surrounding communities since 2007.

Over the years, I’ve helped clients navigate many different stages of homeownership from buying a first home or relocating to the Duluth area to selling a longtime family home, downsizing, or making a move for retirement. I understand that real estate is rarely just a transaction. Often, a move comes during an important life transition involving family, career, finances, or a change in lifestyle.

My role is to provide the local market knowledge, practical insight, and honest guidance you need to understand your options and make a decision that feels right for you. My approach is simple: “I provide, and YOU decide.” I’ll give you the information and perspective I can, without pressure, so you can make a confident and informed choice.

Local Experience & Practical Knowledge of Homes

I’m a lifelong Minnesotan, raised on my family’s farm in northwest Minnesota, where I learned the value of hard work, adaptability, and collaboration. After spending time out of state, I moved to Duluth in 2005 and quickly knew I had found home.

I became a licensed REALTOR® in 2007 after my own interest in real estate investment grew into a passion for helping others buy and sell homes. Since then, I’ve worked with first-time buyers, experienced homeowners, sellers, relocating families, and clients preparing for retirement or downsizing.

My experience with homes extends beyond real estate transactions. My husband and I have personally renovated several properties, and we designed and built our own energy-efficient home. That hands-on experience has given me a practical understanding of homes from the inside out. While I’m not a contractor or home inspector, this experience helps me ask good questions, recognize issues worth investigating, and help buyers and sellers better understand the properties and decisions in front of them.

Areas I Serve

I work with buyers and sellers throughout Duluth and many surrounding communities within the greater Duluth area, including Hermantown, Proctor, Esko, Rice Lake, Knife River, Two Harbors, Carlton, Cloquet and Barnum, Minnesota as well as nearby townships including Midway, Lakewood, Normanna, Fredenberg, Gnesen, Grand Lake, Canosia, and Pequaywan. I am also licensed in Wisconsin and serve Superior and the South Range Area.

My familiarity with these communities allows me to help clients understand not just individual homes, but some of the differences that come with buying and selling throughout northeastern Minnesota and NW Wisconsin from established Duluth neighborhoods to suburban, rural, and township properties.

Beyond Real Estate

When I’m not working with clients, you’ll often find me outdoors mountain biking, hiking, cross country skiing, canoeing, kayaking, or enjoying photography and travel. Time with my husband, family, and close friends is important to me. I also stay involved in the community through volunteer work and service on local boards connected to causes I care about.
